Truly, a large-scale breathtaking exhibition, Panometer Leipzig is the fascinating circular panorama museum established by the artist Yadegar Asisi. This unique project found its place within the former gasometer, which was restored and then opened in 2003, and from that very moment, the number of people wishing to visit the extraordinary panorama exhibition is constantly increasing.
The exhibitions made by Asisi create a feeling of “being there”.
Planning your trip to Leipzig, you should definitely visit the Panometer. It will be interesting for both adults and children, and the positive vivid emotions are guaranteed. The subject matter of the exhibitions are changing periodically, but Yadegar Asisi always knows how to amaze the audience. Besides a visual panorama, the exhibitions are accompanied by music, light and sound effects, to create the spatial impressions at the spectators.
The technology of the panoramic exhibitions’ creation is striking. The pictures have 105 meters in circle and approximately 30 meters in height. The great number of different photos, pictures, drawings are combined into a single huge image with the help of the digital technologies. The picture is printed onto the separate textile strips, which then are combined into the general circular image. To view the panorama, the spectators are invited to the special raised stage in the center of the display.
The exhibition presents today the sixth exposition, which is dedicated to the Titanic ship. The Asisi Panometer of Leipzig was opened from the end of January 2017 and will be available until Autumn 2018. The panorama is focusing more on the sunken liner rather than on the tragic event what happened at the beginning of the 20th century. The purpose of the exhibition is to show how much nature and the water element dominate human’s conceit.
You can visit the Asisi Panometer from Tuesday to Friday. It is open from 10 am to 5 pm, but at Saturday, Sunday and public holidays – from 10 am to 6 pm. On Monday, the exhibition is closed.
