Prag

What do you need to know about Prague?

Prague is the capital as well as the most populated city of the Czech Republic. It has more than 1.2 million inhabitants and counts about 10 million tourists annually, which is not surprising since this city is considered one of the most important tourist destinations in Europe.

The currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech crown (Česká koruna) (Kč / CZK). The bureaux de change (currency exchanges) are very easy to find: in the city center, at the Prague airport, at the main train stations and at the main bus stations. The credit cards Visa and Mastercard are also accepted in many of Prague's shops, hotels and restaurants.

Tip: Don’t forget that smoking is not allowed in public places (public transport access points - stops, train stations, transport, cultural institutions, health facilities) in the Czech Republic.

Weather in Prague

The climate in Prague is typical for Europe. Winters are cold and snowy, and summers are usually warm but rainier. The average winter temperature is about 0 degrees Celsius, and in summer the average temperature is about 24 degrees Celsius. Snow can be expected between December and March, but usually not more than 20 centimeters.

The peak season for tourist is summer, from June to September. Around this time of the year, the days are warm, and the nights are a little bit cooler. If you want to avoid the tourist crowds, consider planning your trip to Prague for spring or autumn. After all, every season has its advantages from a tourist perspective.
