Tignes Ski Resort, France

Tignes Ski Resort is located in the southeast of France, in the Tarentaise Valley, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Connected by lifts and slopes to the neighbouring Val d'Isère Ski Resort, this upscale ski resort is great for skiers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced free-riders.

Tignes is a high‑altitude ski area, most of which is located in an area over 2000 m above sea level. The ski resort with a reliable snowpack offers modern ski lifts, slopes of all difficulty levels for skiing and snowboarding, a great choice of freeride trails, excellent après-skis, and many winter activities for all ages: sledding, skating, dog sleigh, snowshoe hikes, paragliding, biathlon, speed riding, as well as summer skiing on the glacier de la Grande Motte at an altitude of over 3000 m.

The total ski area for the two resorts is located at an altitude of approximately 1550 to 3456 m above sea level, 300 km of ski slopes of various difficulty levels are available (18% of them are difficult, 25% – intermediate, 57% – easy), and long runs up to 10 km. The resorts have 78 ski lifts of various types.

Ski and snowboard rentals are available in the four villages of Tignes Ski Resort. Freeride guides and ski lessons are also available.

The closest airports to the resort are Geneva International Airport, Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, and Chambéry-Savoie Airport. Bourg-Saint-Maurice railway station is located 30 km from Tignes Ski Resort. From the airports and train station, you can get to Tignes Ski Resort by bus or private transfer.

The best time to visit Tignes Ski Resort is from early October to early May (for summer skiing – from Late June to early August).
