How to set up City Tax in HotelFriend
A local tax (or City Tax) is a tax assessed and levied by a local authority such as a state, county, or municipality. A local tax is usually collected in the form of property taxes and is used to fund a wide range of civic services.
Now you can set up City Tax in our Hotel Management System according to your specific needs and your country’s laws. Here is how to do that:
- In the menu on the left click on the Accounting module and choose Settings.
- Go to the City Tax tab.
- In the city Tax block, fill in the following fields:
- Name
- Skip nights (number of nights for which city tax is not charged),
- Max nights (maximum number of nights charged),
- Do not impose a tax upon children under ... y.o. (specify maximum age of children who are not charged city tax),
- VAT of the city Tax,
- Based On (choose if the room rate includes VAT or excludes VAT),
- To include the cleaning fee in the city tax, turn on the toggle. To exclude the cleaning fee from the city tax, turn off the toggle.
- In the tax seasons block, indicate:
- The start of the season using the calendar in the field “From date”,
- Price night,
- Price adult,
- Price child,
- “Percent” fields.
- Click Save.
It’s not necessary to fill in all the fields, you can set only the value you need, e.g. “Price night“ or “ Percent”.
To add different seasons, click on the “+” button and fill in the fields. Do delete the city tax season, click the “-” button.
City tax information is displayed on all pages of the system that are related to reservations. Also, there is a possibility to change the city tax price on the reservation card.
