How to sell on Airbnb: HoteFriend synchronization to increase sales
Airbnb is the biggest player in the short-term rental industry, with more than 7 million listings worldwide in 2021. The company continued to grow in popularity even in the times of the COVID-19 outbreak creating extra opportunities for accommodation owners to earn income by listing their homes.
According to a new report from Airbnb, new hosts have earned $1 billion since the start of the pandemic. Another survey showed that there were over 900 million stays booked on Airbnb in 2020.
If you are interested in listing, now is the right time to maximize the benefits of synchronizing with Airbnb. That said, the synchronization between HotelFriend and Airbnb is possible. Yet, there are a few things you need to know.
Important things to consider when synchronizing with Airbnb
It is very important to set up the listings perfectly. After the connection, you will not be able to change anything manually in the extranet. Changes will be still possible though but it is always better not to change the synchronization. Please pay attention to the following points:
- Make sure that everything is well configured in Airbnb’s extranet before the connection.
- Hotelfriend will send only prices, availability, and restrictions to Airbnb. All descriptions, amenities, translations, pictures, etc. have to be set up in Airbnb.
- In Airbnb, you have listings, not room types. Every listing belongs to a room type (if you have the room type “double room”, you will have to create a listing for this “double room”).
- When you configure the listings, you can choose the option of either publishing them (be visible for reservations) or not. If they aren't published, the connection is not possible. We recommend you publish the listings just before making the connection. If you publish them before connecting to HotelFriend, you will be visible on Airbnb for booking and can receive reservations from it. However, because it is not connected with HotelFriend, this booking will not drop into HotelFriend and you can have an overbooking (or plenty of them).
- Once you are ready, you just need to request the connection with us and we can proceed with it. After the connection is created, we will send prices, availability, and restrictions to Airbnb. And we will receive the reservations in real-time.
