Product Updates v. 4.10.0: New prepayment options and Payment Method improvements

New updates are live in HotelFriend! Filter services by department, view package names on hover, and set flexible prepayment options for long-term stays.

What’s new for hoteliers?

1. Added filter by Department in Service grid

A new filter has been added to the Service module, allowing users to view services by department. This improvement is especially useful for larger properties or hotels with specialized service departments. Now, each department can easily access and manage only the orders assigned to them without any distractions.

2. View Package name on hover in Reservations

In the Reservation module, hovering over the icon of an included package now reveals the name of the deal or package. This small yet helpful change allows front desk agents and managers to instantly identify what extras or services are bundled with each booking – no need to open each reservation for details.

3. Prepayment options for monthly rentals

The Booking Engine now supports a more flexible prepayment policy for long-term stays. You can choose to collect a prepayment for the first night, the first month, or both – depending on the rental duration and your business policy. These options are especially valuable for hotels or serviced apartments offering monthly rental rates.

4. Custom floor names in Room Settings

We’ve updated the “Floor” field in the Add Room modal to accept text input, not just numbers. This means you can now name floors more creatively – like “Penthouse,” “Basement,” “Loft,” or “Garden Level.”

This is especially useful for boutique hotels or historic properties where floor naming doesn’t follow standard numbering. It adds clarity to your internal operations and enhances guest communication when assigning rooms.

5. Payment Method updates and compliance improvements

Several changes have been made to the Payment Settings to keep your hotel compliant and up to date with modern standards:

  • ● Sofort has been removed from Payment Settings.
  • ● Voucher has been temporarily removed and will be reintroduced as a discount or offer feature, providing more flexibility in managing promotions.
  • ● Integration with Gastronovi now allows a variety of payment types (e.g., EC-Karte, HOTAPI, Bankomat), making in-person payments seamless across different platforms.

These updates enhance the accuracy and legal compliance of your payment processing while offering more diverse methods to suit your guests' preferences.

6. Bed settings moved to new Room Settings page

We’ve introduced a dedicated Room Settings page where you can now manage Bed Settings. You can also define custom bed types and specify their sizes using custom fields. Whether it’s a round bed, sofa bed, or extra-long king, you now have the flexibility to tailor room details to match your actual inventory.

7. Hotel status changes logging for Smartpricing integration

All hotel status changes are now automatically logged to support integration with Smartpricing. This includes key events such as enabling/disabling integrations and internal status updates. Each log entry also records who made the change, adding transparency and accountability to your setup process.

8. Minor fixes and visual improvements

  • ● Guest and hotelier emails now group identical tax rates, and in German, “Inkl.” has been correctly changed to “Zzgl.” to reflect price exclusion standards.
  • ● Deleting a Room Type no longer removes associated rooms – it now marks them as “Out of Order,” ensuring data isn’t lost accidentally.
  • ● Fixed a bug that caused emails to be sent even when a guest had no email address.
  • ● The “Show All” link under Employee Comments now redirects correctly to the Reminders section instead of Employee Chat.
  • ● After saving a room rate, users now remain on the same page, making editing quicker and less disruptive.
  • ● Tooltips have been added to the Wizard setup (Create Data step), helping new users better understand each checkbox.
  • ● Various page elements such as check-in/check-out times and Arrangements have been renamed in German for more accurate localization.
