The Zum Arabischen Coffe Baum café is considered as the oldest one throughout Europe – the first mentioning about it dates back to 1556. August II. der Starke, Johann von Goethe, Napoleon Bonaparte, Johann Bach, Robert Schumann, and Franz Liszt visited the café for a cup of coffee in their days.
Today, the building has several floors. Besides a restaurant, there are several coffee rooms, such as French, Arabic, and Wien. Moreover, Zum Arabischen Coffe Baum is not just a café – it has also a museum, where the guests can get to know about the history of coffee culture in the city of Leipzig. Zill’s Tunnel

A today’s name the building got in 1841 after the house reconstruction when the beamed ceilings were rebuilt into the stone arches.
