HotelFriend Launches Door Lock Integration with HotelPlatform.io for Keyless Hotel Check-In

The new hotel door lock integration connects HotelFriend PMS with many electronic locking systems. Keys and PIN codes are created and revoked automatically from the reservation.

Berlin, 28 October 2026 – HotelFriend AG, a Berlin-based provider of all-in-one hotel software for the DACH market, has launched a door lock integration with HotelPlatform.io. Hotels using the HotelFriend property management system (PMS) can now create and manage guest keys for many supported electronic locking systems through one connection, without a separate integration for each lock vendor.

What is the HotelFriend door lock integration?

The integration links HotelFriend PMS to electronic door locks through the HotelPlatform.io AccessControl API. When a reservation is created, changed, or cancelled, the PMS automatically issues, updates, or revokes the matching key card or PIN code. Hotels get keyless check-in without manual key handling at the front desk.

Digital keys and self-service arrival are now standard guest expectations. Connecting a PMS to different locking systems has traditionally required vendor-specific setups and custom development. The new integration removes most of that effort.

How does one API connect many locking systems?

HotelPlatform.io offers one interface that works with a broad range of locking and access control vendors. HotelFriend uses it to generate keys from reservation data, so new lock vendors can be supported faster as they join the HotelPlatform layer. Hotels keep their preferred hardware or choose a new system freely.

How do keys follow the reservation?

Access is tied directly to the booking, and no staff action is needed:

  1. Booking created: a key or PIN code is generated for the guest’s room and stay period.
  2. Booking changed or extended: access rights are updated automatically.
  3. Booking cancelled or guest checked out: access is revoked, so no keys stay active after the stay.

This reduces front desk workload and supports late arrivals and properties with limited reception hours. It is also useful for long-stay accommodation, apartments, and worker housing, where guest turnover and access rules vary.

What are the benefits for hotels?

Benefit What it means in practice
Faster check-in Guests receive access without waiting at reception
Lower workload No manual key encoding or deactivation
Better security Access ends automatically when the booking ends
Hardware freedom Hotels choose from many supported lock vendors
Less IT effort One interface instead of separate lock integrations

The integration uses HotelPlatform’s secure endpoint, which lets hotels connect their systems.

“Hotels should be able to choose the locking system that suits their property, instead of being limited by what their PMS supports. Through HotelPlatform.io, we can offer that flexibility with one integration. It saves hotels implementation time and gives guests a smoother arrival.” – Igor Hladchenko, CTO, HotelFriend AG
